Tell us how you first met? Who, what, when, where, why? Give us the dirty details.

Paige:

“We met through mutual friends! Our friends Jill and Levi were roommates at the time and Justin was coming to visit Levi. I happened to be at the house hanging out with Jill when Justin came over. Levi and Jill wanted to set me up with him, but I refused because I hated being set up! We said “Hello” in passing and that was the last of our communication until 6 months later when he randomly sent me a friend request on Facebook. We’ve been together ever since!”

Justin:

“I was down from St. Cloud for a week and I was going to hang out with my friend Levi who was living at Jill's house at the time. We were going to get some pizza at Crazy Jane's and Paige was over so I said hey before we left for the pizza and that was about it. I sent her a Facebook friend request 6 months later and the rest is history!”

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Paige:

“I think I knew he was the one when I realized just how genuinely nice of a person he is. I knew my heart would be safe with him and he would never do anything to intentionally hurt my feelings.”

Justin:

“Our late night phone calls/Skype chats never had a dull moment and we were always making each other laugh. Once we went on a couple dates and saw that the fun continued uninterrupted in person I had a great feeling about her.”

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Paige:

“I had suspected for several weeks that it was coming, but didn’t expect it when it actually happened! He proposed to me in the living room of our first apartment after we had been at his dad’s cabin all weekend. He put on a nice shirt and made me Arby’s curly fries (a nod to our first date). I shouted to the other room “Can you bring me some ranch?” He walks in, gets down on one knee, and says, “Before I get the ranch, will you marry me?” It was so sweet!

Justin:

“I had gotten the ring and her dad's blessing to ask her to marry me. I wasn't totally expecting to propose when I did but I was starting to psyche myself out wondering when the perfect time was. I realized that the perfect time was really any relaxed moment we were alone, I needed to ignore the thought that I needed to make it some giant flashy spectacle like in the movies because I would have never been able to decide when the perfect time really was. The nice shirt that Paige referred to is now known by us as "the engagement shirt" whenever I wear it. I was positive she would say yes but I was still pretty nervous because it was such a huge thing to ask someone!”

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Paige:

“He is always my biggest cheerleader and NEVER makes me feel silly about wanting to try something new. He’s one of the sweetest people I know.”

Justin:

“She always goes out of her way to show me love and kindness, I never feel like anything I ask or need is an inconvenience. I'm not someone who asks for help easily but I have no problems ever asking for anything from her.”

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Paige:

“He says the most random things! On our first date, we were at Arby’s and he said this about Horsey Sauce—-‘Ahh... Horsey sauce! It’s just like riding a horse... but it’s a sauce... that has NOTHING to do with horses!’ It was then that I knew I wanted to go on a second date with him.”

Justin:

“I love when we're sitting around on lazy mornings drinking coffee and if she's the one to get us a refill she always says "Coffee and a smile!" when refilling my cup, it's super cute and always puts a smile on my face.”

Besides getting married - whats the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Paige:

“I was really excited to see Justin all dressed up in his tux. I was also looking forward to seeing both of our families together to celebrate with us!”

Justin:

“I was really looking forward to seeing all the hard work (the vast majority of the wedding work was Paige's doing) come to life and seeing our families and friends all together in one place to show their love and support for us. Her dress was also a closely guarded secret for over a year so it was awesome finally getting to see it (she looked beautiful in it).”

Explain why you made the decision to work with Lora & Isaac?

Paige:

“Justin and I both know Lora from different times in our lives! In addition to loving their work, we felt comfortable with Lora and Isaac! Isaac helped make our day SO special! We joked that he was the backbone of our wedding day because he truly helped keep the day moving smoothly!”

Marlon & Emily

Marlon and Emily_Wedding-11.jpg

Born nearly 3,000 miles apart, Emily and Marlon believe luck played a role in their meeting eight years ago at their small town Iowa high school. Emily, an Iowa native, and Marlon, born in El Salvador, quickly realized fate had brought them together as they fell deeper in love throughout their time at Luther College. Now living and working in Chicago, the high school sweethearts returned to Decorah, Iowa, the place where it all began, for their outdoor wedding at De Novo Barn.

Their appreciation of both cultures was evident in all aspects of the planning, from the locally grown unity tree to the "shake for a kiss" maracas. While the day was celebrated in both Spanish and English, it was clear that Emily and Marlon's love language was universal.
